Kimbo Slice, former has-been of a lesser MMA product, is now on UFC’s reality TV show, despite basically everyone in UFC saying that he wouldn’t be able to hack it there.  Dana White pulled off a pretty smart move, giving him this entry level deal of sorts.  If he fails, then Dana was right all along.  Well… the show’s ratings have doubled, so now White has an excuse to promote him to the big time.  Between this and his decision to go head-to-head with the Mayweather fight, he’s looking pretty good right now.
Anyway, Deadspin talked about him a few weeks ago and brought up the scary black man angle as part of the reason he’s got so much hype, but that kinda ignores the fact that OH GOD LOOK AT THOSE ARMS AND HE HAS A BEEHIVE NECKBEARD.  I still have this feeling that he’s not balding, he just shaves the top of his head as his look.  I know we love talking about race, but can we stop bringing it up every time something happens involving minorities?  Maybe that’s the issue for some people, but this is what happens when guys who are built like freight trains show up.  Same thing when Brock Lesnar debuted at the WWE, it was like “hey, that guy has no… neck?  Where is that man’s neck?  That looks kinda gross.”  That’s it.  Nothing else.  We’re gonna drive ourselves crazy if we start bringing up race every time something happens.
